It seems like its always this time of year that I start to question myself, my life and generally what the heck I'm doing. I don't know if its looking back and reflecting on the year or starting to think of goals for the future, whatever it is this time of year I seem to develop more self doubt than usual. As I'm sure all of you know, I am on the brink of my future. I am going to be freaking graduated from college in 6 MONTHS people, I have 6 months to get my crap together and figure out what I am doing with my life. And holy cow, it came fast.
I thought I would take the time to give you all some tips on how I handle self doubt and insecurities because trust me, even if it looks like I have none, most days this is my biggest struggle. On my career path, things move fast and its about who you know not what you know and I am in frantic mode trying to compile my "book of business" and building some strong connections with people I want to be with my through my journey, but that requires me to be very vulnerable and that is where self doubt comes into play. I start to questions myself, what I'm good at and what people think about me and that's a HUGE NO NO people.
The first step to dealing with self doubt is to never ever ever care what people think and never question your passions. So if you're in the same boat as me, here's my reminders for you on how to kick self doubt to the curb and move on and never look back like you're old high school boyfriend eh eh ;)
1. Start keeping a journal.
Write down you goals, manifest your dreams. When you write something down, you are held accountable and you can look back and reflect, learn and move forward. Spill your thoughts, feelings, dreams, fears. It belongs on a piece of paper, not wrecking your dreams you hear me? It helps you to gain clarity easier and keep a realistic record of your life and your progress. Journaling has helped me generally just grow as a person.
2. People don't care that much about what you say or do.
I promise you people have better things to do than worry about your life. Do you boo. That's all I've got to say about this one.
3. Work on yourself every single day.
Grow my little flowers, grow. Use every single day as a learning opportunity. There is nothing wrong with failure, in fact the more you fail the closer you are to success.
4. Optimism and positivity is the recipe to success.
Wake up everyday and think of at least 3 positive goals for the day. Also, if I am talking about future goals whether it be a job interview or a test I am about to take, always refer to "When I get it or I'm going to ace it" not "If I get it or I'm going to fail this test". Your energy defines your outcome.
